Ten Charged Over M25 Motorway Protests

Ten protesters face charges following disruptive demonstrations on the M25 motorway last November. The protests, which involved activists climbing motorway gantries, caused chaos between junctions 4, 1A, and 1B from Monday 7 to Thursday 10 November 2022.

Officers stopped a car near Westerham, detaining a group and seizing climbing gear linked to the events. This crackdown has led to multiple conspiracy charges.

Names of Those Charged

On Friday 11 November 2022, five individuals were formally charged with conspiracy to commit public nuisance. They were due to appear at Colchester Magistrates’ Court:

  • David Mann, 50, Ipswich
  • Cressida Gethin, 20, Herefordshire
  • Guido Wieser, 18, London
  • Christopher Ford, 45, Cambridge
  • Phoebe Plummer, 21, London

Five More Charged for Public Nuisance

Earlier that week, five others were charged with intentionally or recklessly causing public nuisance. They’re set to appear in court in December 2022:

  • Pavel Sousek, 71, Cornwall
  • Gaie Delap, 75, Bristol
  • Theresa Norton, 54, North Yorkshire
  • Lucia Whittaker-de-Abreu, 33, Derby
  • Molly Berry, 70, Buckinghamshire
