Bournemouth Drug Gang Busted and Banged Up
Three men from Bournemouth and London have been slapped with hefty jail terms after pleading guilty to drug offences at Bournemouth Crown Court on 7 July 2023. Jubaer Ahmed, 36, Belal Ahmed, 39, and Steven Waddington, 38, were all caught up in a major police crackdown on class A and B drug dealing.
Prison Sentences Handed Down
- Jubaer Ahmed was locked up for nine years.
- Belal Ahmed got eight years for his role, including possession of class B drugs with intent to supply.
- Steven Waddington was sentenced to six years behind bars.
Undercover Investigation Cracks Drug Ring
The convictions came after Dorset Police’s Serious Organised Crime Investigation Team (SOCIT), with help from the National Crime Agency and the South West Regional Organised Crime Unit (SWROCU), smashed the gang’s encrypted communication on EncroChat.
Officers stopped Jubaer Ahmed in London on 15 June 2020 and found more than £75,000 in cash in his car. Belal Ahmed was arrested the same day in London, triggering a series of raids on Bournemouth properties.
Drugs and Cash Seized in Major Raids
- At West Cliff Road, cops uncovered containers packed with cocaine and ecstasy.
- Another Bournemouth address on Alma Road revealed more cocaine and cannabis.
- Steven Waddington was found with six small bags of cocaine at his Bournemouth home.
The value of drugs seized totalled around £40,000 alongside electronic devices linking the trio to the supply operation.
Detective Superintendent Andy Dilworth, Dorset Police’s Director of Intelligence, said: “By breaking the gang’s encrypted messaging system, we smashed a significant drug network moving illegal substances from London down to Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.”
