Three Men Busted for Sickening Rape in Barking Alleyway

Three men were arrested within an hour of a horrifying attack and charged with rape less than 48 hours later. The brutal assault unfolded in Barking town centre just after 6am on Sunday, 10 July 2022.

CCTV Horror Caught in Real-Time

A vigilant security guard monitoring venue CCTV spotted the rape unfolding and phoned the police immediately. Shocking footage showed the trio forcing a young woman down a dark alley, taking turns to assault her. The victim was left traumatised and with no memory of the attack.

Police swooped quickly, arresting all three suspects nearby. Officers secured vital CCTV and forensic evidence, which was crucial in building a strong case against the men.

Police Praise Victim’s Bravery and Teamwork

Detective Sergeant Harry Nunez, East Area Serious Sexual Offences Team: “This was an atrocious attack on a young woman who was targeted and subjected to sustained, serious sexual violence. I would like to recognise the victim’s bravery who has supported this investigation throughout. Early police action to secure forensics and CCTV was key in bringing these evil men to justice.”

Detective Constable Ben Wallen, lead investigator: “The result would not have been possible without the quick response of officers and the Serious Sexual Offences team’s support. I hope this reassures victims that police are committed to catching those responsible and ensuring they face the courts.”

Sentences Handed Down at Snaresbrook Crown Court

After a two-week trial, the trio were found guilty of rape on 12 January. Sentenced on Monday, 13 March, their prison terms are:

  • Miguel Clino, 20, Norfolk Road, Barking: 8 years
  • Devon Cato, 20, Boundary Road, E13: 7 years
  • Nizandro Caimanque, 21, Central Park Road, E6: 7 years and 6 months
