Border Force Seizes Mystery Cash at Folkestone Port

Border Force officers stopped a car at Folkestone port on Saturday, 18 May 2024, during routine security checks. Their search revealed a large sum of cash with no clear origin, which was immediately seized.

Three Men Detained and Referred to Kent Police

The vehicle’s three occupants were handed over to Kent Police. Officers from the Border Investigation Unit detained them for further questioning.

Charges Brought Over Concealing Criminal Property

  • Osman Ozturk, 35, of Chard, Somerset
  • Murat Bingol, 50, of Hampstead, North London
  • Erdal Temel, 66, of no fixed address

On Monday, 20 May, all three were charged with concealing criminal property following an initial hearing at Margate Magistrates’ Court.

Remanded Ahead of Crown Court Appearance

The trio were remanded in custody and are set to reappear at canterbury/" title="Canterbury" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Canterbury Crown Court on 17 June. More updates to follow as the case develops.
