Steroid and Phone Smuggling Ring Busted
Three suspects have been arrested for plotting to smuggle steroids and mobile phones into prison.
Who’s in the Dock?
- Christopher Harman, 36, of Pentons Close, Holybourne
- Liam Currell, 31, of no fixed address
- Stephanie Burt, 30, of Stanley Green Road, Poole, Dorset
Serious Charges Laid
All three face charges of conspiracy to bring a list A item – steroids – and a list B item – mobile phones – into prison.
Stephanie Burt is also slapped with an additional charge for refusing to hand over her phone’s PIN, breaching a Section 49 notice under the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (RIPA).
Police Crackdown
The arrests are the result of a joint probe by Hampshire Constabulary and HMP Winchester.
Harman, Currell, and Burt have been remanded in custody on conditional bail. They’re due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, August 4th.
