Maidstone Menace Faces Town Centre Ban After Breaking Court Orders 13 Times
Repeat Offender Arrested in Bishop’s Terrace
Robert McCann, 51, has been causing havoc across Maidstone and finally hit the brakes after flouting his Community Protection Notice 13 times. Caught on Friday 14 November in Bishops Terrace, McCann ignored an exclusion zone and carried alcohol where banned.
After getting bail, he cheekily broke the conditions again days later. The courts weren’t having it and dragged him back in quick.
Medway Magistrates Crack Down with Tough New Orders
On 21 November, McCann was remanded immediately at Medway Magistrates’ Court. Officers pushed hard for a two-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) – and snagged it.
The order slaps a strict ban on McCann, forbidding him from entering Maidstone’s High Street and Mill Street. He also can’t carry open alcohol or storm back into shops where he’s been kicked out.
Police Issue Stark Warning: Cross the Line Again, Face Arrest
“This man has been responsible for persistent anti-social behaviour in the public spaces of Maidstone,” said Inspector James Ross. “He’s caused considerable disruption to local businesses and residents.”
“After ignoring previous warnings, officers have successfully secured a court order. If McCann breaks it again, he’ll be arrested and could face a fine or even jail.”
