A 22-year-old Toxteth man has been jailed for over three years after terrorising two women in Liverpool with a vicious string of attacks.
Samuel Gebru’s Brutal Night on Aigburth’s Streets
Samuel Gebru admitted guilt to sexual assault and common assault charges tied to two separate attacks on women in their 20s, both happening the same July night around Aigburth Road and Lark Lane.
At 10.35pm on 28 July, one woman spotted Gebru stalking her on Aigburth Road. He followed her up Lark Lane and grabbed her arm near Sefton Grove. Luckily, two passersby from the nearby Albert pub scared him off before it got worse.
Second Horrific Attack Hours Later
Just after midnight, Gebru struck again in the same area. He followed another woman and sexually assaulted her on the street. Neighbours raised the alarm, causing him to flee.
Police swooped early on 30 July and arrested Gebru. He was already held for the second assault when cops linked him to the first after a thorough investigation using CCTV and forensic evidence.
Locked Up at Liverpool Crown Court
On Monday 8 December, Gebru was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court to three years and four months behind bars.
The chilling attacks have renewed urgent calls for increased protection and safety measures for women in Liverpool’s streets.
