Altrincham Monster Jailed for 18 Years After Brutal Three-Year Abuse Spree

Beastly Abuse Uncovered at Manchester Court

Philip Daly, from Beechlands Avenue, Altrincham, was locked up today at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court. The court slammed him with an 18-year sentence, plus five more years on licence for his horrific crimes.

Daly was found guilty last October of:

  • Eight counts of Actual Bodily Harm (ABH)
  • One count of controlling and coercive behaviour
  • Two counts of rape
  • Five counts of causing or inciting penetrative sexual activity

Three Years of Terror and Control

His victim bravely reported the abuse after suffering a terrifying three years under Daly’s reign. The monstrosity’s cruelty escalated from week to week – starting with locking the victim away from family and friends, ripping up her passport, snatching her wages, and threatening harm if she tried to leave the house.

Daly unleashed violent rages that left her battered with severe cuts and bruises, constantly fearing for her life.

His controlling grip forced the victim into unwanted sexual acts, crippling her mental health and leaving her terrified of the consequences of defiance.

Victim Speaks Out

“I still live in fear, constantly looking over my shoulder. I don’t deserve this after Daly destroyed a huge part of my life,” she said. “He ruined the early years of my adulthood and devastated my family and friends.”

“Nightmares about the trauma plague me. When I wake, I’m left panicked, feeling I must stay on high alert in case he’s there.”

Police Praise Brave Victim and Issue Warning

Detective Constable Charlotte Morgan of GMP’s Complex Safeguarding Hub said: “Daly’s sustained and vile campaign of domestic abuse has left the victim shattered, with nowhere to turn. He is a dangerous and manipulative man, and it’s right he’s been brought to justice.”

“I want to thank the victim for her courage and cooperation. If you’re suffering abuse, please reach out. You might feel trapped but there are local services ready to help with housing, finances, and counselling. Don’t suffer in silence any longer.”

If you or someone you know is a victim of domestic abuse, report it online, use the LiveChat on the police website, or call 101. In an emergency, always dial 999.
