Two Charged and Third Arrested After Early Morning Brighton Robbery
A man was assaulted and robbed in Brighton’s St James’s Street in the early hours of Wednesday, September 25. Police swooped after the 20-year-old victim, from Hastings, was attacked shortly after using a cash point.
The victim was taken to hospital with minor injuries and later discharged.
Two Charged, One Held on Bail
- Olesia Demian, 26, from Richmond Upon Thames, was arrested near the scene. She faces charges of robbery and attempted grievous bodily harm. Demian appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on September 26 and is remanded in custody. She’s next due at Lewes Crown Court on October 24.
- Kingsley Ekwebelem, 55, currently with no fixed address, was arrested on September 30. He was charged the following morning and appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on October 1. Ekwebelem has been granted bail and will return to court on October 29.
- A 26-year-old man from Wimbledon was also arrested on suspicion of robbery and has been bailed as investigations continue.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Sussex Police are urging anyone who witnessed the assault or has footage or relevant information to come forward.
“If you have any information, please report it to Sussex Police online or by calling 101, quoting reference 127 of 25/09,” police said.
