Parents Charged After Baby Killed in Horrific Dog Attack
A three-month-old baby girl tragically died after being mauled by a dog in Lincolnshire. Now, two adults face charges over the heartbreaking incident.
Dog Attack Claims Baby Kyra’s Life
Karen Alcock, 41, and Vince King, 54, both of Castledyke Bank, New York, Lincoln, have been charged with being in charge of a dog out of control causing injury leading to death.
The horrific attack happened on the night of March 6 near Woodhall Spa at Ostlers Plantation. Emergency services rushed to the scene at 11.13pm after baby Kyra King was found with severe neck and head injuries.
Despite desperate attempts to save her, baby Kyra was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police Seek Justice as Dog Remains Isolated
The East Midlands Ambulance Service alerted police, who immediately arrested the parents at the scene. The dog responsible has been held in secure kennels and authorities now plan to seek a euthanasia order for the animal.
Lead investigator DC Craig Davey said: “This has been a profoundly sad investigation for everyone involved in understanding the circumstances around baby Kyra’s death. We have kept an open mind throughout this lengthy and thorough inquiry, involving forensic experts and our Protecting Vulnerable People unit. Charges have now been brought against two people, and we will continue to work with the CPS as the case progresses through the justice system.”
Alcock and King are due to appear at Boston Magistrates’ Court at 11am on Wednesday, 9 November for their initial hearing.
