Two Low-Life Scumbags Jailed for Brutal Attacks on Elderly Pensioners

Two ruthless criminals who targeted mainly elderly women in a violent crime spree have been locked up for over 14 years at Harrow Crown Court. Shaun Moorhouse, 32, and William Moorhouse, 30, both of no fixed abode, were handed hefty sentences this Tuesday, 15 May, after a chilling eight-day rampage across Brent.

Shocking Crime Spree Against Pensioners

The Moorhouse brothers went on a rampage between 19 January and 26 January, committing 21 offences including robbery, theft, and vehicle theft. Their victims were mostly women aged 65 to 88, many of whom were violently pushed to the ground or dragged along streets as their handbags were snatched.

Their attacks followed a chilling pattern. The brothers used stolen cars to pull up alongside victims, then either snatched handbags or violently robbed them. Vehicles involved included a silver Vauxhall Astra, a black Audi A3, and a grey Volkswagen Golf.

Arrest and Guilty Pleas

Both offenders pleaded guilty at Harrow Crown Court on 22 March. Shaun Moorhouse was sentenced to six years for conspiracy to commit theft and robbery. William Moorhouse was given eight years and seven months for the same charges plus two burglaries in Brent on 8 and 28 January.

Their spree began when they robbed a 74-year-old woman of her Volkswagen Golf in Wembley, knocking her to the floor before speeding off in her car. The violence didn’t stop there — several victims were attacked in their own streets during the week-long terror.

Close Calls and Public Heroism

On 23 January, the pair used a stolen black Audi to crash into a victim’s car in a Waitrose car park in Brent Cross, stealing her handbag from inside. Minutes later, they snatched another handbag from a woman on Brent’s Mead Place. Their bid to steal a car from a 71-year-old in Tesco’s car park was thwarted when a passer-by bravely grabbed the keys back.

Police Praise and Strong Sentence

“I would like to thank all those who came forward with evidence. Their help was vital in securing justice,” said Detective Sergeant Richard Lewsley from Brent CID. “The strong sentence shows that offenders won’t escape the law. Our teams worked tirelessly to end this terrifying series of crimes.”

William Moorhouse was arrested on 28 January after a burglary in Balmoral Road, followed by Shaun’s arrest the next day during a routine patrol. With these two behind bars, the close-knit Brent community can breathe a little easier.
