Two Shoplifters Busted After Violent Spree Across Warwickshire
Trevor Myles, 43, and Arthur Fear, 43, both of no fixed abode, have been locked up for a series of thefts and assaults across Warwickshire.
Myles’ Crime Spree Ends in Jail After Finger-Breaking Assault
Myles pleaded guilty to 17 counts of theft, one count of assault, and one count of assaulting an emergency worker. His crimes spanned from 7 February to 10 March.
At a shop in Parade, Leamington Spa, last month, Myles was caught stealing alcohol. When a staff member tried to stop him, Myles lashed out, breaking the worker’s finger.
CCTV caught Myles on 13 March in Leamington, where he tried to flee from police. Officers caught up with him on Bury Road, but he pushed and scratched one officer, cutting her hand.
Myles was sentenced at Coventry Magistrates’ Court last week to 42 weeks behind bars.
Fear Nabbed After Christmas Day Assault Over Stolen Booze
Arthur Fear admitted to 14 counts of theft and one count of assault between 10 December 2022 and 18 February 2023.
On 30 December, he attacked a person who challenged him while stealing alcohol from a Leamington Parade shop.
Fear was arrested in Fallow Hill, Leamington on 14 March and sentenced to 45 weeks in jail at Warwick Crown Court the next day.
Police Warn: Shoplifting Won’t Be Tolerated
Inspector Simon Ryan, head of Warwick District Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “Myles and Fear are prolific offenders who stole hundreds of pounds worth of goods from shops across Warwick, Leamington and Kenilworth. I hope this sends a clear message that shoplifting will not be tolerated in the area and we are working closely with businesses to identify offenders and bring them to justice.”
