Two Ipswich Drug Dealers Locked Up After Police Chase
Logan Burnett, 23, homeless, and Ben Taylor, 24, from Bull Road, Ipswich, have been jailed following a bust on a Class A drug ring. Burnett grabbed four years, while Taylor copped two years and 10 months at Ipswich Crown Court on Tuesday, 1 December.
‘Itchy’ and ‘Scratchy’ Nabbed With Mobile Phones Linked to Drug Sales
Both men were tied to mobile phones used to advertise drugs under the nicknames ‘Itchy’ (Burnett) and ‘Scratchy’ (Taylor). The pair were stopped after a chase on the A12 at Great Wenham on 10 March, driving a red Renault Clio. Police arrested them after they failed to pull over.
Officers found mobile phones linked to drug trading inside the vehicle. About 60g of Class A drugs—believed to be heroin and crack cocaine—were discovered thrown from the car along the A12.
Guilty Pleas and Serious Charges
Burnett was charged with possession and supply of heroin, crack cocaine, plus possession of cannabis. Taylor faced charges for being involved with the supply of heroin and crack cocaine between January and May 2020.
Both pleaded guilty at Ipswich Magistrates Court. Burnett admitted possession of heroin and cocaine with intent to supply, plus possession of cocaine and cannabis. Both men owned up to their roles in supplying heroin and cocaine.
Police Praise Victory in Crackdown on Ipswich Drug Trade
“To see these two drug dealers off the streets is great news. Both were determined operators selling on Ipswich streets, causing misery to residents and vulnerable people,” said Det Sgt Mark Hughes of the Serious Crime Disruption Team.
“We’re targeting this kind of activity relentlessly and will keep taking tough action on drug dealers across the county. We listen to public concerns and are committed to making the county hostile to Class A drug suppliers.”
The Serious Crime Disruption Team focuses on shutting down organised gangs involved in drugs and violent crime like robbery and burglary. Their ongoing mission is to tackle high harm issues, especially the supply of controlled substances.
