Two men jailed after brutal home invasion in Grays
Two men have been locked up following a shocking aggravated burglary in Grays, Thurrock. The violent raid left one family member needing hospital treatment after being threatened and attacked in their own home.
Early morning raid turns violent
The terrifying incident unfolded in the early hours of Friday, 21 April 2023. Police rushed to the scene and quickly arrested a suspect. During a search, officers seized a firearm. The gang had forced their way in, demanding jewellery and watches before stealing valuables and fleeing.
Investigation cracks case wide open
Essex Police launched a thorough investigation, pouring over CCTV footage and forensic evidence. This led to five suspects being charged – four men and one woman.
Two ringleaders face heavy jail time
- Hassan Mansary, 27, from Peckham, pleaded guilty to serious charges including aggravated burglary, grievous bodily harm with intent, and firearm offences. He was sentenced to nine years in prison.
- Solwazi Asante, 19, of Watford, denied charges but was found guilty on four counts, including aggravated burglary and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. He received an 11-year prison sentence.
Three co-defendants – Mohammed Mansary, Anthony Foday, and Tiarnna Barnes – were acquitted following the trial.

This was a terrifying ordeal for the victims in their own home,” said a spokesperson for Essex Police. “Thanks to fast police work and an intensive investigation, those responsible have been brought to justice. We hope these sentences provide some comfort to the victims and send a clear message that violent criminals will be held accountable.”
