Shoppers’ Booze Heist Couple Nabbed in London
A pair caught red-handed in a stolen booze spree have been charged with multiple counts of shoplifting across Kent and Worcestershire.
Arrested After Police Stop Vehicle
On Friday 10 March 2023, Met Police officers pulled over a vehicle in London. Inside were Ionela Catalina Voicu, 30, and Ion Ciprian Dumitru, 40, both from Acacia Road, Walthamstow. The couple were promptly arrested.
Massive Alcohol Theft Spree Spanning Months
By Sunday 12 March, Voicu and Dumitru were slapped with nine shoplifting charges and one attempted theft count. The offences took place in Tesco stores across East Kent from July 2022 to February 2023.
The charges cover huge hauls of booze including:
- £850 worth stolen from Tesco, Ramsgate on 18 December 2022
- £1,500 worth taken from Tesco, Broadstairs on 23 July 2022
- £2,300 pinch from Tesco, Sheerness on 26 August 2022
- £875 worth grabbed from Tesco, Tenterden on 11 August 2022

Next Stop: Canterbury Crown Court
The duo appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Monday 13 March and were released on conditional bail. Their next hearing is scheduled for Tuesday 11 April at Canterbury Crown Court.
