London Couple Nabbed in £13,864 Tesco Booze Heist

Police swooped on a London man and woman after spotting their car on Friday 10 March 2023. Officers from the Metropolitan Police stopped the vehicle and arrested Ionela Catalina Voicu, 30, and Ion Ciprian Dumitru, 40, both from Walthamstow.

On Sunday 12 March, the pair were hit with nine counts of shoplifting and one attempted theft charge. The charges stem from a long-running investigation into a string of Tesco store thefts across east Kent from July 2022 to February 2023.

Lavish Loot: Thousands Worth of Booze Stolen

The alleged thefts include staggering amounts of alcohol stolen from various Tesco outlets and other stores:

  • £850 in booze from Tesco, Ramsgate on 18 December 2022
  • £1,500 from Tesco, Broadstairs on 23 July 2022
  • £2,300 from Tesco, Sheerness on 26 August 2022
  • £875 from Tesco, Tenterden on 11 August 2022

    The accused appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Monday 13 March. They were released on conditional bail ahead of the next hearing at Canterbury Crown Court on Tuesday 11 April.
