Police have arrested 23-year-old Jordan Charles in London, ending a years-long manhunt for the violent fugitive wanted for numerous attacks in Crawley and Brighton. The arrest took place on Wednesday, 4 November, with Charles now facing serious charges including grievous bodily harm (GBH), actual bodily harm (ABH), assault by battery, and possession of a firearm.
Charles has been formally charged in connection with a brutal incident that occurred on 29 May, involving GBH, ABH, and assault by battery. This arrest concludes an extensive police effort to bring him to justice.
In addition to the May charges, Charles is required to answer for six previous court warrants related to a series of violent offences:
- Robbery (30 December 2019) and witness intimidation (March 2019)
- Threatening an individual with a blade, assault on emergency workers, and racially aggravated harassment (17 August 2019)
- GBH, affray, and possession of an offensive weapon (7 September 2019)
- Criminal damage, offensive weapon possession, and ABH (8 December 2019)
- GBH, ABH (two cases), affray, and assault on emergency workers (13 March 2024)
- GBH on a train in 2020
Several of these charges highlight a disturbing pattern of violent behaviour, including assaults on emergency workers and racially or religiously aggravated harassment. Jordan Charles now faces justice after evading law enforcement for years.
He is scheduled to appear in custody at Crawley Magistrates Court on Thursday, 5 November.
