52-year-old man arrested after knife-point rape in Folkestone park
A man has been detained following a terrifying rape at knife-point in Kingsnorth Gardens, Folkestone, Kent. The attack happened just after 12:40pm on Friday, 6 June, sparking a swift police crackdown.
Man in Custody as Knife and Drugs Seized
The female victim, who suffered a facial injury during the ordeal, told police she was approached by a man she knew. She was then threatened with a knife and sexually assaulted.
Kent Police moved quickly to arrest a 52-year-old suspect near the scene. Officers found him with a bladed weapon and a quantity of cocaine.
The man has been charged with possession of a knife in a public place and possession of Class A drugs. He has been bailed over the rape allegation and is set to appear at Margate Magistrates’ Court on Monday for the weapons and drug charges.
Police Hunt Witnesses and Urge Public Vigilance
“Detectives are appealing for witnesses following a report of a serious sexual assault in Folkestone. The incident happened in Kingsnorth Gardens around 12:40pm on Friday, 6 June,” said a Kent Police spokesperson.
Anyone who was in or around the park at the time, or saw suspicious behaviour, is urged to come forward. Police are especially interested in any dashcam, mobile phone, or CCTV footage that could help the investigation.
