Woman Charged with Murder After Fatal Stabbing in Enfield
A 55-year-old woman has appeared in court accused of murdering 62-year-old Efthyia Constantinou in Enfield. Zaneta Peto, also known as Maria Peto and living on Charles Street, faced murder charges at Highbury Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, November 2.
Police Rush to Scene After Emergency Call
The tragic incident unfolded shortly after 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 30, when police received a brief emergency call from a Westerham Avenue address. Officers arrived to find Efthyia with fatal stab wounds. Despite urgent efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Suspect Known to Victim, No One Else Sought
Peto was arrested in the early hours of October 31 and charged with murder. Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee from the Specialist Crime Command said:
“Our sincerest condolences go out to Efthyia’s family, friends, and the community deeply shaken by this loss. Zaneta was known to the victim, and we are not seeking anyone else in connection with this attack.”
Family Supported as Investigation Continues
Efthyia’s family is receiving support from specially trained officers during this difficult time. Authorities have confirmed the investigation is ongoing, with further court updates expected soon.
