Woman charged with attempted murder after stabbing in Broadstairs

Violent attack rocks St Peter’s, Broadstairs

Kent Police were called to a home in the St Peter’s area of Broadstairs at 6.50pm on Thursday, 20 March 2025, following reports of a brutal assault.

Emergency crews, including South East Coast Ambulance Service paramedics, found a woman in her 20s suffering from stab wounds. She was rushed to a London hospital and remains in serious but stable condition.

Suspect arrested and charged

A 53-year-old woman known to the victim was arrested at the scene. On Saturday, 22 March, Carla Lovejoy of Guy Close, Broadstairs, was officially charged with attempted murder.

Lovejoy is currently remanded in custody and is set to appear at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 24 March.

Ongoing investigation

A Kent Police spokesperson said:

“We are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding this serious incident. The victim remains in hospital, and our thoughts are with her and her family as she recovers.”

Police have not disclosed if there are other suspects but stress the probe is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact Kent Police on 101, quoting the incident date.
