Mother Found Guilty of Killing Her Two Young Sons in East London Horror

A Father’s Nightmare Unfolds

In a shocking case out of Dagenham, east London, Kara Alexander, 47, has been convicted of murdering her two young sons. The tragic discovery came on December 16, 2022, when the boys’ father arrived at their Cornwallis Road home to pick up Elijah, 2, and Marley, 5, for the weekend. Unable to contact Alexander, he found the boys lifeless in their bunkbed.

Emergency services were called at around 2 pm. Both children were pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem revealed they died from interference with breathing, caused by smothering or drowning. Alexander fled but was arrested nearby shortly after.

Chilling Details from the Investigation

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Waller, leading the Specialist Crime Command probe, revealed grim facts.

“Our thoughts are with the family, especially the boys’ father who found them when he went to collect them,” DCI Waller said. “No parent should endure such a horrific experience and then hear the detailed evidence behind these events.”

The scene was grim: curtains drawn, house in darkness, no forced entry. Alexander’s phone was found submerged in a sink filled with water – a clear attempt to destroy evidence. Forensic analysis showed her phone was active until the day the boys died, then went silent, suggesting she was avoiding contact.

CCTV and doorbell footage showed Alexander and her sons running errands together until the afternoon of December 15, the last time they were seen alive.

Conviction and Sentencing Awaited

Alexander was charged with two counts of murder on December 19, 2022. At Kingston Crown Court on February 21, 2025, she was found guilty. Sentencing is set for April 11.

“I want to praise first responders who dealt with this traumatic scene,” DCI Waller added. “This verdict won’t change the past, but it offers the family some closure.”

Community Left in Shock and Mourning

The tight-knit Dagenham community is reeling. Locals have left flowers, toys, and heartfelt notes outside the family home in memory of Elijah and Marley. Grief counsellors and support services have been made available for those affected by this heartbreaking tragedy.
