A fatal incident occurred in a Thornhill flat in Southampton on Wednesday night, prompting a significant emergency response and causing concern among local residents.
Shortly after 9pm, police, paramedics, and a helicopter arrived at a block of flats on Burslesdon Road following reports of a fatal incident inside one of the flats. Specialist officers coordinated the scene with the assistance of a drone. Between six and ten emergency vehicles were stationed along the main road as authorities sealed off the building, leaving neighbours alarmed and seeking information.
One local resident said the fatal incident happened in the flat directly above hers, describing the situation as “all pretty scary.” Another resident mistakenly believed a stabbing had taken place near the nearby KFC. Some locals expressed frustration over a rise in violence in the area, with calls for the reintroduction of section 60 stop-and-search powers to help restore control.
Hampshire Police have not yet confirmed the nature of the incident or released any official details. The community remains anxious as residents cope with the fear and uncertainty caused by violence close to their homes.
This incident comes less than two weeks after a fatal stabbing in another part of Southampton, where a 15-year-old from Andover is now facing charges.
