The Metropolitan Police’s Roads and Transport Policing Command have issued a photo of a man wanted in connection with the sexual assault of a 15-year-old boy on a London bus.
The incident occurred on Friday 2 July at approximately 7.30pm. The teenager, wearing his school uniform, boarded the Route 179 bus near Ilford station and sat at the back of the top deck. The suspect followed and sat next to him, attempting to engage the boy in sexual conversation, which the victim ignored.
Over the course of about 20 minutes, the man sexually touched the teenager multiple times. After the bus journey, the victim got off and immediately informed his mother, who then contacted the police.
The suspect alighted a few stops later at Southend Road – 1 Green bus stop. The victim was able to film the man on his phone during the incident. Detectives describe the suspect as an Eastern European male, approximately 35 years old, with receding short brown hair and rough stubble.
Detective Chief Inspector Michael Dougall said: “Did you see this man around Ilford or on Route 179 that evening? If you witnessed anything, no matter how small, please come forward. We must identify him.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact the police by calling 07880 429486 or 101, quoting CAD 8095/02July.
