Man Critically Injured in Early Morning Crash with HGV in Rufford
Ford Ka Collides with Volvo Lorry at Break of Dawn
At just 4.35am today, a Ford Ka smashed into a Volvo HGV at the busy Liverpool Road and Croston Road junction in Rufford. The Ka’s driver, a 48-year-old Manchester man, was seriously hurt and rushed to Aintree Hospital where he remains in critical condition.
HGV Driver Escapes Unharmed as Road Shuts for Six Hours
The lorry driver walked away unscathed. Meanwhile, cops shut the road for around six hours to clear the wreckage and investigate the scene.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Sgt Martin Wilcock, from Lancashire Constabulary’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This collision has left a man with some extremely serious injuries and my thoughts are with his loved ones at this time. I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision itself or who has any information to get in touch.”
