BREAKING

A massive fire erupted at a commercial site on Maypole Crescent, Erith, leading to a major emergency operation by the London Fire Brigade.

The blaze is raging through a warehouse at Darent Industrial Park, engulfing a crane and several vehicles.

The fire first broke out at 10:47pm and quickly escalated, triggering a full response with 25 fire pumps and around 150 firefighters on the scene.

Crews from Bexley, Erith, Plumstead, East Greenwich, Sidcup, and nearby areas rushed to contain the inferno.

Three of the Brigade’s massive 32-metre turntable ladders were deployed, dousing the flames from above and providing firefighters with a critical aerial perspective.

Authorities have issued urgent advice for local residents to keep all windows and doors closed due to thick, spreading smoke.

The dense haze remains a significant hazard as fire crews continue to battle the blaze.

So far, there have been no reported injuries.

Fire investigators will begin their probe into the fire’s cause once the flames are extinguished and the area is declared safe.

The incident is ongoing. Stay tuned for the latest updates on this developing story.
