Man Found Dead in Hedgerow After Hit-and-Run on Burton Road

A man was discovered injured in hedges on Burton Road just after 8.30am this Monday (December 11), but sadly, he was confirmed dead at the scene by East Midlands Ambulance Service.

Road Closed Following Fatal Collision

Authorities shut the stretch of Burton Road between the A511 roundabout and Rushey Close, Spring Avenue, and Anwell Lane while investigations took place. The road has now reopened.

Hit-and-Run Incident in Early Hours

It’s believed the victim, thought to be walking towards Boundary, Derbyshire between 2.30am and 3.30am on Sunday (December 10), was struck by a vehicle that fled without stopping.

Derbyshire Constabulary launched a missing person report Sunday evening for Thomas Hunter, who may be the deceased man. Formal identification is pending, with police working closely together on the case.

Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage

Officers urge anyone driving along Burton Road in the early hours to come forward. If you have dashcam footage from that time, check it and contact police if you spot anything useful.
