A serious motorcycle crash has brought the Dartford Crossing to a standstill, triggering massive delays on the M25 in both directions. The incident occurred this afternoon, October 30, between Junction 1B for A296 Princes Road in Dartford and Junction 2 for A2 at the Darenth Interchange.
Kent Police were called to the scene around 2:23pm on the clockwise carriageway. A police spokesperson said, “Officers and South East Coast Ambulance Service are at the scene where both carriageways are currently closed. The air ambulance is also in attendance, and motorists should plan their journeys accordingly.”
Although no injuries have yet been confirmed, the traffic chaos is severe, with congestion stretching north to Junction 30 (Lakeside/Tilbury) and south to Junction 3 (M20 Swanley interchange). By 4:11pm, the northbound lanes reopened, but the southbound carriageway remains closed.
National Highways have advised drivers to expect traffic jams well into the evening. They urge everyone to allow extra travel time or find alternative routes to avoid the affected area.
In a separate incident, Essex Police are managing a motorcycle crash on the M25 between Junction 25 (Waltham Cross) and Junction 26 (Waltham Abbey). Roads remain closed while investigations continue, but no further details have been released at this time.
