Investigations Underway as Tragedy Shakes Kent Railway

A fatal incident unfolded near Whitstable last night when a person was struck by a train, leaving emergency services racing to the scene. The tragedy happened on the railway line between Whitstable and Sittingbourne at around 9.50pm on April 22.

Emergency Services Rush to Scene

The British Transport Police (BTP) and paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) responded swiftly after reports of a casualty on the tracks.

A BTP spokesperson said: “Officers were called to the line near Whitstable at 9.52pm yesterday following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.” SECAmb confirmed: “Multiple crews attended the incident, including a critical care paramedic. Sadly, a person was declared deceased at the scene.”

Train Services Disrupted

The line between Whitstable and Sittingbourne was shut down for several hours while emergency teams worked. Buses replaced Southeastern trains via Faversham during the closure. The railway reopened at around 1.40am, with services back to normal on April 23.
