19-Year-Old British Teen Lost in Tenerife Wilderness

The desperate hunt for Jay Slater, 19, enters day six on the sun-soaked island of Tenerife – but so far, there’s been no sign of the missing Brit.

The apprentice bricklayer from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, vanished while holidaying with friends. Jay was last heard from when he called a mate to say he was embarking on an 11-hour trek back to his accommodation after missing his bus.

Massive Search Underway in Tenerife Hills

Rescue teams have scoured the island’s rugged countryside, focusing on the steep hills and forests near the village of Masca. Helicopters, drones, and rescue dogs have combed overgrown terrain, rivers, and hillsides in a bid to find Jay.

At one point, they checked a river surrounded by dead palm trees close to an Airbnb property where Jay was reportedly dropped off. The property owner, Ophelia, saw Jay pass by but then lost sight of him.

Family and Friends Cling to Hope

Lancashire police have offered help to the Spanish Guardia Civil, who are currently managing the search, but stand ready to step in if needed. Jay’s family and friends remain anxious and exhausted but hopeful for his safe return.

“We are doing everything possible and are grateful for the support we’re receiving,” said Rachel Louise Harg, administrator of the “Jay Slater Missing” Facebook group.

Friend Lucy Law, who was with Jay at the NRG music festival, revealed a chilling phone call he made: “He was lost in the mountains, confused, thirsty, and his phone was at 1% battery.” The trek back to his accommodation would have taken around 11 hours on foot.

Community Rallying in Hope Amid Tragedy

The picturesque Tenerife island now holds a grim shadow as locals and tourists alike come together, praying for a positive outcome. The search for Jay Slater continues, with every passing hour heightening the urgency.
